Psychotherapy and Counselling

A Collaborative Journey

Psychotherapy and counselling involves working together to understand your thoughts, feelings, behaviours and experiences, not to judge them but to understand them. The goal is to help you feel better emotionally, make positive changes in your life and cope with challenges in a healthy way.

I’m here to support you in uncovering patterns, discovering strengths, and finding new ways of approaching life’s challenges. Through our sessions together, you’ll begin to see yourself and your experiences with greater clarity and compassion. It’s not about giving advice or telling you what to do—it’s about helping you explore what’s going on, why it might be happening, and what you want to change.

Counselling typically focuses on immediate or short-term concerns, such as relationship breakups, bereavement, or work-related stress. It is often a shorter-term process aimed at helping you manage and navigate current challenges.

Psychotherapy, on the other hand, explores deeper, long-standing patterns or issues that may be affecting your present life. These are often rooted in past experiences. Psychotherapy supports you in understanding what has shaped you and helps you move beyond past conditioning or experiences that may no longer serve you. This is usually a more in-depth process that unfolds over a longer period.

While counselling and psychotherapy can overlap and the terms are often used interchangeably, I am trained in both approaches. I will work with you in the way that best fits your individual needs.

Providing a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space. You don’t need to have all the answers when you come in, just a willingness to talk, reflect, and be open to the process. Whether it’s emotional pain, confusion, uncertainty, or just the sense that something isn’t quite right, our work together creates a space to pause, reflect, and grow.

I draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches, depending on your needs and preferences. While these techniques guide our work, you remain the expert on your own experience.

No two people experience emotional pain in the same way. That’s why I take a mindful, individualised approach to each issue you bring to therapy. Some areas I commonly support clients with include:

Whether it’s communication difficulties, boundary-setting, or navigating conflict, I offer a nonjudgmental space to reflect on your relationships and create meaningful change.

Change—wanted or not—can shake our sense of identity and security. I’ll support you through transitions such as divorce, career shifts, loss, or other turning points.

If you're struggling with inner criticism or self-doubt, we’ll work on rebuilding your sense of worth and helping you reconnect with your strengths.

Healing from trauma takes time and safety. I create a calm, compassionate space where your story is respected, and your healing unfolds at your own pace.

Providing a holding space for you to grieve and process your loss, a space to express difficult emotions and gently begin to make sense of life in your new reality

Therapy for anxiety and overwhelm – peaceful escape from inner noise

When to Reach Out

You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. If any of the following resonate with you, it may be time to reach out:

  • Persistent feelings of sadness, anxiety, or hopelessness
  • Struggles with self-esteem or self-worth
  • Confusion or overwhelm during a life change
  • Feeling stuck in unhelpful behaviours
  • Relationship struggles or communication breakdowns
  • A desire to explore who you are and where you’re going

Taking the First Step

Starting therapy can feel daunting and you can feel vulnerable, but it can also be the beginning of something deeply healing. If you’re unsure, I offer a complimentary ten minute phone call so you can ask questions and get a sense of whether we’re a good fit.

Let’s Connect
